No Board Report Requested By Union Strike Possible

LCBO Workers Vote Overwhelmingly in Favor of Strike

No-Board Report Requested by Union, Strike Possible

Toronto, June 17, 2024 (CNW)

The union representing workers at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) has requested a no-board report from the Ministry of Labour, a step that could lead to a strike.

The request comes after LCBO workers voted 97% in favor of going on strike. The union, which represents over 7,000 workers at LCBO stores across the province, said the vote shows the widespread discontent among its members.

A no-board report is a document that is issued by the Ministry of Labour when negotiations between a union and an employer have reached an impasse. The report triggers a 14-day cooling-off period, during which time the two sides must continue to negotiate in an attempt to reach an agreement.

If the two sides are unable to reach an agreement within the 14-day cooling-off period, a strike could begin. The union has said that it is prepared to strike if necessary to achieve a fair contract for its members.
